Patrick Kim, 22

Patrick’s parents both died on 9/11. His father was a senior agent at CAA so he was adopted by Arnold Levine, his Dad’s closest friend and a fellow CAA agent. Arnold, a classic car fanatic, owns Memory Lane, a classic car repair shop in West Hollywood. Patrick, newly graduated from USC, takes over the business after Arnold’s second heart attack and quickly finds out he can fix anything mechanical. He is secretly in love with Edward but believes it to be unrequited.

Edward Saperstein, 22

Edward’s parents died on 9/11. Ed was adopted by Robert and Rachel Saperstein, his Dad’s two closest friends, and they raised him as an orthodox Jew. Edward swam for the US Olympic Team in the Rio Olympics winning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. He and Patrick met at a 9/11 memorial service when they were both 15, hooked up, and became best friends. Ed just graduated from Stanford with a computer science degree and splits his time working at a startup and training for the next Olympics. Ed is secretly in love with Patrick but believes it to be unrequited.

Sapphire Yanez, 23

Sapphire, a US Marine, is on leave from active duty, to help care for her niece, Rose, while her sister recovers from a serious car accident. Both their parents worked at the Pentagon and died on 9/11. Sapphire met Patrick and Edward at a 9/11 memorial service three years earlier and became close friends. She, her sister and two brothers were adopted and raised by Tom Nguyen, her Dad’s marine buddy who was on vacation and not at the Pentagon when it was attacked. She is in love with Gordo but believes it be unrequited..

Gordo Halverson, 22

Gordo’s parents, both chefs at Windows on the World, died on 9/11. He was adopted by Karan and Jagrudi Trivedi and raised for the first ten years of his life, in Dehli, India. He is a trained nurse and like his mother, wishes to become a doctor. He met Edward at a swim competition when they were both 12 and have been close friends ever since. Gordo is an NCAA Water Polo All-American but has given up a spot on the Olympic squad to go to medical school. He is secretly in love with Sapphire but believes it to be unrequited.

Annie Kim, 22

Patrick’s fraternal twin sister. She is just starting her Masters in production at USC with the goal of becoming a TV producer. She is a professional magician, is a regular performer at The Magic Castle, and just finished a gig in Vegas. Like her brother, she loves classic cars and has a ’72 Corvette as her daily driver – in orange.

Arnold Levine, 54

A senior agent at CAA, after his first heart attack, he purchased Memory Lane and left CAA, only to find out he could not live without being an agent and making deals. Raising Patrick and Annie as his own, he is considering returning to CAA and letting Patrick run Memory Lane. In a sad twist of fate, he was supposed to be on Flight 11 on 9/11 with Patrick and Annie’s parents but decided to fly back to LA the day before.

Angelica Russell, 52

Edward’s birth Aunt and former wife of Arnold. A backup singer that spent her whole adult life touring with some of the biggest singers and bands, she is now settled in LA and managing new singer/songwriters. Friends with many superstars, but feeling guilty about her absence during his youth, she spoils Edward. We meet her in the second episode of season one.
